USIS CEO headlines front page of Government Security News

FALLS CHURCH, Va., July 8, 2009 – USIS, the largest supplier of security investigations to the U.S. government, a national leader in employment screening, and a leading provider of data and information solutions to the insurance industry, announced that its CEO, Mike Cherkasky, is featured in a front page article of the June edition of GSN: Government Security News, a government-oriented monthly publication about physical, IT, and Homeland security.

The article highlights parts of Cherkasky’s impressive career as a longtime prosecutor and business executive who monitored the Los Angeles police department for eight years and was recently named to head the New York Ethics Commission. The article also chronicles Cherkasky’s duties in the public and private sectors and offers interesting insight to his approach on serving commissions with integrity and how important it is to have trust in a client relationship.

Cherkasky joined USIS as CEO in July 2008 and has produced leadership and strategic direction for USIS’ expansion of security and screening solutions, government training, and support services. Prior to joining USIS, he was the president and chief executive officer of Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. (MMC). He was also a member of the firm’s board of directors. Prior to these positions, Cherkasky was president and CEO of Kroll, Inc., which was acquired by MMC in July 2004.

USIS is the leading supplier of background investigations to the federal government and provides significant services to the law enforcement community by providing background screening services. Overseas, USIS draws upon its experience as a government contractor that provides critical support to post-conflict nations through the training of indigenous law enforcement personnel, assisting nations in their efforts to create law enforcement institutions that become the foundation of self-operated justice systems. USIS has a new link on its website for independent contractors interested in opportunities to work on these critical national security contracts.
